When I decided I was moving across Chicago some of my friends asked if I was going to get one of those moving pods. I said no way. I know better than that. I decided I was going to hire some Movers Chicago and that is exactly what I did.

I don’t have anything against the pods, per se. Some people seem to think they are neat but I feel they are a big trap and a waste of my money. There are two reasons for this. First off, think about what you get for the cost. You are paying a hefty fee that is more than just a moving truck rental. But in reality, you are still doing all of the work. You have to pack, lift, haul and move all your furniture out to the pod. At the other end you have to lift, haul and move it again. Basically you are paying top dollar for someone else to drive. I don’t know about you but to me, driving is the least stressful part of the whole move. It is like an extended break between lifting things.

Then there is the risk that comes with a pod. Do you know how these things work? Once it is full you call the company and then they schedule a time to pick it up. It might not be the same day. So what does that mean? Well first of all it means you are living for a few days, a week or more without any of your stuff and just waiting for it to arrive. More to the point, it means the pod is a giant Christmas gift for burglars just waiting to be broken into every night.

Maybe I am old fashioned but I think I am just sensible. Hire Movers Chicago, it is way better than a “pod” and totally worth it.
